The Houston Astros were too much for Detroit Tigers starter Matthew Boyd. Aledmys Diaz, Alex Bregman, Robinson Chirinos, and Jake Marisnick homered for the Astros as they beat the Tigers 8-1 last night. The Astros have now won 6 straight games, and have a 27-15 record. Manager AJ Hinch said about Boyd ''We made him really work."

Brad Peacock allowed a run and 3 hits in 5 innings for the 'Stros, who have won 9 of 10 and 6 in a row. Boyd gave up 3 runs and 5 hits. Boyd said after the game ''My stuff was working, but they have a really good approach, they are patient and they don't chase, so you have to be in the zone against them.'' Houston got homers from their 6, 8, and 9 hitters before Bregman joined the parade with his 13th of the year.

In the second inning, Diaz hit a solo homer with 2 outs to open up the scoring for the 'Stros. Later in the inning, Chirinos hit a 2 run homer with Tyler White on base. Marisnick hit a 2 run homer in the 7th to give Houston a 5-1 lead. After George Springer hit an RBI single, Bregman hit a 2 run homer to left to make it 8-1. Ryan Pressly extended his scoreless streak to 36 innings with a shutout 8th inning for Houston.

Former Tigers Ace Justin Verlander will start for the Astros tomorrow against his former team in his return to Detroit. Tonight, Houston will send southpaw Wade Miley to the mound, while Detroit counters with lefty Ryan Carpenter.
