Erik Swanson didn't run into any trouble in his first big league start. Swanson allowed just one hit in 6 innings as the Mariners got the final game of their series against the Cleveland Indians by a 10-0 score. Afterwards, he was grabbed by his teammates, thrown into a laundry cart, and pushed into the showers. Swanson's no hit bid ended in the 6th with a Jose Ramirez double. The Indians only got one hit the rest of the game to fall to a .215 team batting average, an AL low.

The Mariners high octane offense got the scoring started early. With Mitch Haniger, Dan Vogelbach, and Edwin Encarnacion on base, Jay Bruce stepped up and ripped a grand slam in the first inning, giving Seattle a 4-0 lead before Swanson took the mound. In the second inning, Mitch Haniger put a ball over the left field wall to make it 5-0 Mariners. In the 4th, Vogelbach singled a run in to make it 6-0, then Encarnacion went yard to left to make it 8-0. In the 5th, Braden Bishop hit a 2 run single to cap off the scoring. These runs now have the Mariners at 68 homers on the year, with 45 of them coming on the road.

The Bats got Swanson a big lead, and he did the rest. He was perfect through 3 innings and got out of the fourth after a couple walks. Swanson said he was aware he didn't allow any hits but he was concentrated on getting outs. He got 2 outs in the 6th before Ramirez doubled, ending the no hit bid. Rookie Braden Bishop also got doused by his teammates, like Swanson, after he got his first hits and RBI's in the majors. Felix Hernandez will get the ball for Seattle as they open up a 4 game series in the bronx against the Yankees. Trevor Bauer will start for the Indians as they open up a 4 game series as well, against Ivan Nova and the Chicago White Sox in Chicago.
