Twins pitcher Martin Perez has two starts in the month of May. He hasn't allowed a run in either one. Perez, with the help of the bullpen, combined for a 3 hit shutout as the Twins blanked the Blue Jays 8-0. Perez won his fourth straight start and has pitched at least 6 innings in all five starts he has made. Perez said that ''I believe in what I have right now and I trust my stuff." Perez allowed only 2 hits, both of which were singles.

In the second inning, with the Twins up 1-0, Jason Castro homered to right on the first pitch with Jonathan Schoop on base to put the Twins up 3-0. After Castro scored Marwin Gonzalez on a ground out, Byron Buxton doubled to right, scoring Schoop and making it a 5-0 lead. Eddie Rosario homered to center field in the 5th, and Jorge Polanco also homered to center in the 7th to make it 7-0. Rosario hit a sac fly in the 9th, scoring Jake Cave and making it 8-0.

After Perez's 7 innings, Ryne Harper pitched the 8th, allowing no hits, and Matt Magill pitched the 9th, giving up the other hit of the game, a single by Randal Grichuk. Castro had 3 RBI and a homer before leaving the game in the 8th inning after being hit in the elbow. Manager Rocco Baldelli announced he is day to day. Toronto Manager Charlie Montoya was thrown out for the first time in his career after disputing a strikeout by Brandon Drury, as he thought the pitch was too low. Plate umpire Adam Hamari hilariously hesitated before throwing Montoya out for the first time. The Blue Jays send Aaron Sanchez to the mound tonight against Minnesota's Jose Berrios, who is looking to win his fifth straight start.
