The Boston Red Sox are back in the zone. Trailing 5-1 in the 7th inning against the Toronto Blue Jays, the Sox came back and won 7-5 in 10 innings. The comeback was capped by Christian Vazquez's walkoff 2 run homer. Shortstop Xander Bogaerts said that ''Little by little, things started turning, we started getting a feeling of `this actually is our game.'''The game started poorly for the Sox, as Chris Sale struggled through 5 innings, and Trent Thornton kept the bats in check.

The Sox trailed 5-1 in the 7th after a Randal Grichuk RBI single, and Andrew Benintendi started the comeback with an RBI single that scored Mookie Betts. Bogaerts doubled to the right field short wall to score Benintendi and make it a 5-3 game. JD Martinez then singled in Bogaerts and made the deficit one run, 5-4. In the 8th inning, after a Jackie Bradley Jr triple, Rafael Devers, who is dealing with hamstring tightness, came in to pinch hit and singled Bradley home to tie the game. Devers was then taken out to make sure he didn't aggravate his injury while running the bases. In the 10th, after Michael Chavis and Bradley struck out, the game appeared to be heading for 11 innings, then  Marco Hernandez got hit with a pitch, setting the stage for Vazquez to deliver.

The Sox have now won 8 of 9, with their one loss coming in a 17 inning marathon against the Minnesota Twins. Brandon Workman picked up the win for the Red Sox, pitching a scoreless 10th after getting into a jam. Sale said that ''We're starting to play some good baseball. We're finally getting back to things that make us successful.'' Manager Alex Cora said that ''We strung together some good at-bats and the line kept moving." Brian Johnson will get his second start of the season for the Red Sox in the Saturday afternoon tilt, while Derek Law will be the opener for the Blue Jays.
