The Los Angeles Angels couldn't have given the late Tyler Skaggs a better tribute. RHP's Taylor Cole and Felix Pena combined to throw a no hitter against the Seattle Mariners on the night the Angels honored Skaggs at home en route to a 13-0 win. The entire Angels roster wore number 45 to honor Skaggs this night. Skaggs was found unresponsive in a hotel room in Dallas and died on July 1, as the Angels were preparing for a series against the Texas Rangers. Following the win, the entire team removed their jerseys and placed them on the pitchers mound.

This was the 11th no hitter in Angels history, and the first since 2012, when Jered Weaver threw one. It also was the first combined no hitter in California since the Orioles did it to Oakland on July 13, 1991. Coincidentally, that was the day Skaggs was born. Cole started the game with two perfect innings, and then Pena took over, and pitched the last 7 innings to secure the no-no. The lone baserunner for Seattle was Omar Narvaez, who drew a walk in the 5th inning.

This was the first home game for the Angels since Skaggs died, and his mother Debbie threw the first pitch right down the middle. The Angels jumped to an early lead thanks to a 7 run first inning, including a 2 run homer and 2 run double from Mike Trout.
