Right after his worst start of his career, Mike Leake responded with his best. Leake took a perfect game into the 9th inning as the Seattle Mariners shut out the Los Angeles Angels 10-0. Leake lost his chance at the perfect game when Luis Rengifo hit a leadoff single in the 9th. Leake said that ''It was fun, as you get closer, you get the shakes and you have to calm yourself down. Other than that, it's just a matter of making pitches.'' Leake's one hit gem ended Seattle's six game losing streak.

The scoring started in the 4th inning, when Dan Vogelbach launched a 3 run homer to straightaway center field. Tom Murphy followed that up with a 2 run single to give Seattle a 5-0 lead. In the 5th, Vogelbach did it again, blasting another 3 run bomb to right field to make it 8-0. Then in the 6th, JP Crawford whacked a 2 run double to right field to make the score 10-0, which held.

Leake's gem was quite the turnaround from his last start. He allowed 7 runs to the Angels and lasted only 2/3 of an inning. That game was the game that the Angels threw a no hitter against Seattle. Manager Scott Servais said that ''It's baseball, it's just crazy. . Just five, six days ago, he was pitching and they were on everything. So you just never know what you're going to see when you come to the park.''

Griffin Canning will start on Saturday for the Angels for his first career start against Seattle. Seattle has not yet named a starter, but Wade Leblanc will be coming into the game in the second inning.
