Game one of the rematch between the Boston Red Sox and the Los Angeles Dodgers ended up very similar to the 2018 world series. The Red Sox defeated the Dodgers handily. Boston hit three homers, Eduardo Rodriguez struck out 10, and the Sox toppled the Dodgers 8-1. Shortstop Xander Bogaerts said that ''We have to come out aggressive because we know these guys are one of the best teams in the game, obviously, they're going to come here, try to beat us pretty bad for last year. I think it was a good way for us to start.'' The Sox have now won 5 straight games.

The scoring begun in the first inning, when Rafael Devers continued his power surge with a solo homer to left field to make it 1-0 Red Sox. In the 2nd, Alex Verdugo tied the game for the Dodgers with a homer to right field. In the bottom of the inning, Christian Vazquez answered right back with a long homer to left to put Boston in the lead 2-1. In the 6th, after a leadoff double by Mookie Betts, Devers doubled off the green monster to plate Betts and make it 3-1. In the 7th inning, Brock Holt doubled home Jackie Bradley Jr, Betts hit a sac fly, and Xander Bogaerts belted a 3 run homer to make it 8-1.

Rodriguez went 7 innings and struck out 10 for Boston, tying his season high in strikeouts. He also held the Dodgers to 5 hits. He has won 4 straight and is the only Sox pitcher with 10 wins. Dodgers catcher Austin Barnes said that ''He just kept pounding the zone, he threw the ball well. He mixed and matched with both sides of the plate.'' Kenta Maeda took the loss for the Dodgers, lasting 5 2/3 innings and allowing 3 runs.

I had the pleasure of being at this game, and much to my shock, there were a lot of Dodger fans in attendance. They had some of their own chants, and were able to drown out Red Sox chants at some times, but when Devers hit a homer and doubled in Betts, us Boston fans broke out our trademark "Beat LA" chants, and the Red Sox heard us and delivered. The Dodgers have now lost 4 straight games and are now 1-6 at Fenway Park during the regular season.

Game two of the series features Ross Stripling getting the start for the Dodgers, and Chris Sale looking to rebound for the Red Sox. First pitch at Fenway is scheduled for 7:10 Eastern time on FOX.
