The Pittsburgh Pirates have traded RHP Jordan Lyles to the Milwaukee Brewers in exchange for minor league reliever Cody Ponce. Over 17 starts this season, Lyles has a 5.36 ERA. This trade makes sense, as Milwaukee desperately needs starting pitching. Ponce has a 3.29 ERA over 38 1/3 innings pitched at the Double A level. The Brewers DFA'd Marcos Diplan to clear a roster spot for Lyles.

The Phillies DFA'd Yacksel Rios to make room for Vargas.

The Texas Rangers have traded RHP Chris Martin to the Atlanta Braves in exchange for LHP Kolby Allard. Martin has a 3.08 ERA over 38 innings and 4 saves for Texas. Martin is expected to help the Braves bullpen, that is 25th in the Majors in WAR. Braves GM Alex Anthopoulos said that "We felt he had as much upside as anybody in the trade market in terms of a late-inning arm. He's obviously gotten a chance to close some games for the Rangers." Allard was the number 10 prospect in the Braves system and is now 16 in the Rangers system. He was drafted 14th overall in 2015.
