Dexter Fowler drove in 4 runs, Paul Dejong and Paul Goldschmidt homered, and the St.Louis Cardinals breezed by the Cincinnati Reds 13-4 Friday night to take over first place in the NL central. Kolten Wong added 4 hits and Marcell Ozuna added 3. Manager Mike Shildt said that ''We always have a good game plan. Guys were locked in, and they did a really nice job." The Cardinals jumped on Reds starter Luis Castillo early, which was a good sign considering the last two times they faced Castillo, they had scored two runs combined.

Ozuna got the Cardinals the early lead in the first inning with an RBI double to left field. In the second, Fowler ripped a 3 run homer to right field to make it 4-0. In the 3rd, Dejong made the score 6-0 with a two run shot to center field. In the 5th, Goldschmidt added a two run shot to make it 8-0. In the 6th, Fowler and Tommy Edman hit RBI singles, Fowler scored on a throwing error, and Goldschmidt added an RBI single. The Reds scored on an RBI double by Josh VanMeter, Aristedes Aquino hit a two run homer, and Tucker Barnhart scored on a fielding error. The Cardinals got their 13th run on a Wong solo homer in the 9th.

Castillo lasted just 4 1/3 innings for the Reds, allowing 8 runs on 9 hits, 3 of them homers. He struck out 3 batters. Castillo said that ''They selected good pitches to hit. Some of my pitches got too much of the plate, but others they just put a good swing on them. It was one of those nights. I thought my changeup and my slider were working pretty good tonight. When things don't go good for you, they are just not going to be good for you.'' Adam Wainwright got the win for the Cardinals, improving to 4-1 in his last 7 starts.

Miles Mikolas will get the start in Saturday's contest for the Cardinals. Anthony DeSclafani will start for Cincinnati.
