Todd Frazier hit two 3 run homers, Zack Wheeler pitched 6 innings, and the New York Mets snapped a 6 game losing streak with an 11-5 win over the Philadelphia Phillies. Michael Conforto also homered for the Mets. Because the Chicago Cubs beat the Milwaukee Brewers, the Mets still remain 5 games behind of the second wild card spot in the NL.

The Phillies took the lead in the 5th inning when JT Realmuto hit a sac fly to make it 1-0. Wilson Ramos tied it for the Mets in the 7th when he shot an RBI single into center field. In the 8th, Amed Rosario hit a two run single, and Frazier belted a 3 run homer to left field to make it 6-1. In the 9th, Conforto hit a two run homer, and Frazier hit his second 3 run homer to make it 11-1. The Phillies got 4 in the bottom of the 9th on a Realmuto sac fly, a Corey Dickerson RBI single, and RBI doubles by Bryce Harper and Rhys Hoskins.

The Phillies bullpen imploded after Aaron Nola left, allowing 10 runs on just 8 outs. Mike Morin took the loss for Philadelphia, getting just one out and allowing 4 runs on 3 hits and one walk. Nola went 6 1/3 innings and gave up one run on 4 hits and two walks. Manager Gabe Kapler said that ''Every game is so valuable right now, especially when Nola pitches, we have to support him early. It's very disappointing. When Nola pitches, we expect to win.''

Wheeler pitched 6 innings for the Mets, giving up one run on 7 hits and 3 walks. Despite that, Justin Wilson got the win for the Mets, who worked the 7th inning. Wilson gave up just one hit and no runs. Chris Mazza worked the 9th to secure the win. The Mets were happy when Degrom left the game, as manager Mickey Callaway said that ''You just understand he's making his pitches, but hopefully you can get him out before nine and beat up on the bullpen, that's exactly what our team did."

The series will continue on Saturday, where Jason Vargas will get the start for the Phillies. Vargas was traded to Philadelphia by the Mets in July. Steven Matz will draw the start for the Mets.
