Two weeks after the game started, Brock Holt ended it. The game between the Boston Red Sox and Kansas City Royals on August 7 was suspended in the top of the 10th inning in a 4-4 tie. The game was scheduled to be continued today, and it lasted just 12 minutes. With one out in the bottom of the 10th, Holt laced a single into left field that easily scored Chris Owings and the Sox took the walkoff win 5-4. The Sox had to catch a 6 hour flight to San Diego, so the goal was to finish as quickly as possible. The Royals flew in from Baltimore and will now make their way to Cleveland.

The game started at 1:05 PM, and Josh Taylor was on the mound for the Sox, as he was before the game got suspended. The game resumed at a 2-1 count to pinch hitter Nick Dini, who lined out to first base on the first pitch. Taylor proceeded to strike out Ryan O'Hearn and force pinch hitter Bubba Starling to ground out to quickly end the top of the 10th. Starling was the hitter for Billy Hamilton, who was DFA'd by the Royals recently.

Jake Newberry was supposed to pitch the bottom of the 10th for the Royals, but instead it was Richard Lovelady, as Newberry is currently on the 10 day IL. After Andrew Benintendi struck out to lead off, Christian Vazquez laced a double to center field to put the winning run on second. After Chris Owings came in to run for Vazquez, Mitch Moreland was hit, putting runners on first and second with one out. That set the stage for Holt, who sent the ball all the way to the green monster to send everyone home happy. Red Sox manager Alex Cora said that ''The way things have been going, I thought we might play 16 innings. But I'm glad Christian put a good swing and then Brock put a good swing.''

I got to come to the continuation of the game, as I had tickets for the original game on August 7. Before the game, I was able to walk the warning track and take pictures in front of the green monster, which I enjoyed. After, I took my seat in center field and watched the game end in 12 minutes. It was a fun time, even though the game didn't last long.

The Royals start a series in Cleveland, where Jakob Junis will start on Friday night. The Sox head to San Diego to start their west coast trip, where Eduardo Rodriguez will seek win number 15 against Chris Paddack.
