For the second straight year, the Atlanta Braves are kings of the NL east. Ronald Acuna Jr homered, Mike Foltynewicz pitched 8 dominating innings, and the Braves beat the San Francisco Giants 6-0 to earn the division title. The Braves currently sit at 95-60, which would give them the second seed in the NL playoffs, and they would host the St.Louis Cardinals in the NLDS if the standings hold.

The Braves jumped ahead in the first inning when Freddie Freeman hit a sac fly to left field that scored Acuna. In the 3rd inning, Ozzie Albies hit a single into center field to score Acuna and make it 2-0 Braves. In the 5th, Acuna cranked a two run homer to right field and doubled the lead to 4-0. In the 6th, Brian McCann hit a two run bomb to right field to make it 6-0, which held.

After getting retiring manager Bruce Bochy his 200th win as a manager on Wednesday night, the Giants dropped their second straight game after losing to the Boston Red Sox Thursday afternoon. This game also officially eliminated the Giants from entering the playoffs. Tyler Beede took the loss for the Giants, lasting 6 innings and giving up 6 runs on 7 hits and two walks. He struck out 5 hitters. Burch Smith, Conner Menez, and Enderson Franco finished the game after Beede left. Mike Yastrzemski led the Giants offense with 3 hits.

Foltynewicz continued his hot streak for the Braves. He threw 8 dominating innings, giving up just 3 hits and one walk and no runs. He struck out 7 Giants. Josh Tomlin pitched the 9th inning to secure the division title. Acuna and Albies each had two hits to pace the Atlanta offense. With 95 wins and plenty of talent to go around, the Braves are looking scary good in October, and could be meeting the Los Angeles Dodgers in the NLCS for a rematch of last year's NLDS if things go right for them.
