   Series tied 1-1

Justin Verlander had a nice game, Carlos Correa was the hero, and the Houston Astros walked off the New York Yankees 3-2 in 11 innings to win game two of the ALCS. In the 2017 ALCS, Correa hit a walkoff double in game two, and two years later, he hit a walkoff homer in game two. Correa also made some nice plays defensively at shortstop. Correa said that ''I've got my swing back."

The Astros jumped ahead in the second inning, when Correa laced a double down the left field line that scored Alex Bregman and made it 1-0. In the 4th, Aaron Judge put the Yankees ahead with a two run homer to center field. In the 5th, after Chad Green, who retired every hitter he faced, was removed, George Springer ripped the first pitch from Adam Ottavino into the left center field seats to tie the game at two. In the 11th, Correa took the first pitch from JA Happ into the right field seats for the walkoff.

Verlander went 6 2/3 innings for Houston, giving up two runs on 5 hits and two walks. He struck out 7 for a no decision. Josh James got the win, as he finished the 11th inning. After Verlander left, the Astros bullpen combined to give up just one hit. Correa said of his walkoff homer that ''As soon as I hit it I knew it was going to go over the fence, the adrenaline started pumping like crazy. I don't even know what I did. I've got to go watch the video. But I know I was so hyped.'' Manager AJ Hinch said of Correa that ''You look at his RBI totals in the postseason, you look at his walk-offs, you look at the big moments, he's a pretty special man."

Paxton only went 2 1/3 innings for New York, giving up one run on 4 hits and two walks. Happ took the loss for New York, giving up the homer to Correa. New York lost for the first time this postseason. Manager Aaron Boone said that ''It was a struggle tonight, they're tough to score runs off, especially on a night when Verlander is out there.'' Judge said that ''Just back and forth - the two best ballclubs in the game, I wish we could have come away with two here, but now time to regroup and get ready for Tuesday.''

The series shifts to Yankee stadium for games 3, 4, and 5, starting with game 3 on Tuesday night. Luis Severino will get the ball for the Yankees, while Houston sends Gerrit Cole to the mound.
