   NYY leads series 1-0

Masahiro Tanaka had another good start, Gleyber Torres had quite a day, and the New York Yankees cruised to a 7-0 win to open up the ALCS against the Houston Astros. Torres drove in 5 runs, and he has had a very nice postseason. When asked if he was surprised by his October success, he said ''I mean, not really."

Torres got the Yanks on the board in the 4th inning with an RBI double. In the 6th, Torres and Giancarlo Stanton hit solo homers to make it 3-0. In the 7th, Torres hit a two run single to right field. In the 9th, Torres grounded out to score a run, and Gio Urshela hit a solo homer.

Tanaka went 6 innings for the Yanks, giving up one hit and one walk and no runs. However, all the attention was on Torres. Brett Gardner said of Torres that f''It's kind of scary for opposing pitchers, but exciting if you're a Yankees fan, he's just so talented and has a knack for putting the bat on the baseball. No moment is too big for him.'' In his career, Tanaka is 5-2 with a stingy 1.32 ERA in the postseason, as he outpitched Houston ace Zack Greinke.

Greinke went 6 innings for Houston, giving up 3 runs on 7 hits. He struck out 6 and got his second loss of the postseason. Alex Bregman was not happy with the offense, saying that ''I don't think we've really done anything offensively this postseason, we need to string together some at-bats.'' Manager AJ Hinch said that ''The Yankees, they can come at you in a lot of different ways."

Game two is on Sunday night in Houston, where the Astros start ace Justin Verlander. In the 2017 ALCS against the Yankees, oh, he just had a 2-0 record with a stingy 0.56 ERA, no big deal or anything. The Yankees look to take a 2-0 lead with James Paxton taking the mound.
