2019 Gold Glove winners

   The 2019 Gold Glove winners were announced on Sunday night, and we'll look at all of them here. All 18 Gold Glove winners are eligible for their respective league's platinum glove, given to the best fielder in each league.

AL catcher: Roberto Perez, Cleveland Indians
   Perez won his first gold glove in his first season as the Indians' primary catcher. He caught 993 2/3 innings this year, and he didn't have a single passed ball. That's the most since Johnny Bench in 1975.

NL Catcher: JT Realmuto, Philadelphia Phillies
   This was Realmuto's first gold glove, and it's no surprise. Realmuto threw out 43 runners this season, way ahead of Yasmani Grandal's 27. Grandal was in second place in runners thrown out.

AL First Base: Matt Olson, Oakland Athletics
   Olson is taking home his second gold glove of his career, and he led all first baseman in defensive runs saved(DRS) with 13.

NL First Base: Anthony Rizzo, Chicago Cubs
   Rizzo is taking home his 3rd career gold glove. He is one of just 3 Cubs first basemen to win the gold glove, the other two being Mark Grace and Derrek Lee.

AL Second Base: Yolmer Sanchez, Chicago White Sox
   Sanchez had a great season for Chicago, and is taking home his first gold glove. Nellie Fox is the only other White Sox second baseman to win the gold glove. Sanchez had 11 DRS this season.

NL Second Base: Kolten Wong, St.Louis Cardinals
   This is Wong's first gold glove. He is the first Cardinals second baseman to win one since Fernando Vina in 2002. He had a nifty 14 DRS this season, being a stalwart in the middle infield.

AL Shortstop: Francisco Lindor, Cleveland Indians
   This one is a no brainer, as Lindor is a great defensive shortstop. He won his second gold glove with 9 DRS this season. This is the first time multiple Indians have won a gold glove since Omar Vizquel and Roberto Alomar in 2001.

NL Shortstop: Nick Ahmed, Arizona Diamondbacks
   Ahmed had a terrific defensive season, with a nifty 18 DRS. This is his second gold glove in a row.

AL 3rd base: Matt Chapman, Oakland Athletics
   Chapman is a defensive legend at the hot corner, winning his second gold glove. This is the first time Oakland has had back to back multiple infielders winning gold gloves, as Chapman and Olson won gold gloves last year as well.

NL 3rd base: Nolan Arenado, Colorado Rockies
   Arenado has been in the majors for 7 years. He has won the gold glove every year. Arenado had another fantasic year with the glove in a hall of fame career. Ichiro has the longest streak, winning 10 gold gloves in his first 10 years.

AL Left Field: Alex Gordon, Kansas City Royals
   The Royals have won 17 gold gloves this decade, and 7 of them have been won by Gordon. Frank White is the only Royal in history with more gold gloves, with 8.

NL Left Field: David Peralta, Arizona Diamondbacks
   Peralta had a fine season en route to his first career gold glove. He had 10 DRS, and becomes the 4th D-Backs outfielder to win a gold glove.

AL Center Field: Kevin Kiermaier, Tampa Bay Rays
   Kiermaier is a defensive stalwart in center field for Tampa Bay, collecting his 3rd gold glove. He had a nifty 13 DRS this season.

NL Center Field: Lorenzo Cain, Milwaukee Brewers
   After another great defensive year, Cain finally picks up his first gold glove. He had 112 DRS entering the year, and added another 20 this season.

AL Right Field: Mookie Betts, Boston Red Sox
   Betts had another fine season, winning his 4th straight gold glove. Him and Dwight Evans are the only Red Sox to win 4 in a row. He had 15 DRS on the year.

NL Right Field: Cody Bellinger, Los Angeles Dodgers
   Bellinger had a great season with the bat, and a great season in the field, collecting his first gold glove. He had 22 DRS, second in the majors to Victor Robles of the Washington Nationals.

AL Pitcher: Mike Leake, Seattle Mariners/Arizona Diamondbacks
   Despite going to the NL at the trade deadline, Leake picks up the AL gold glove, his first. He was a workhorse for both teams, and he deserved it.

NL Pitcher: Zack Greinke, Arizona Diamondbacks/Houston Astros
   Despite finishing the season in the AL, Greinke wins the NL award, his 6th straight gold glove. He's been a good fielder his entire career, and had good defensive plays in game 7 of the world series.
