The San Diego Padres have signed LHP Drew Pomeranz to a 4 year, $34 million deal, pending a physical, according to Robert Murray. Pomeranz previously pitched for the Padres in 2016 before being traded to the Boston Red Sox. Pomeranz will receive an $8 million signing bonus.    The Texas Rangers have signed RHP Kyle Gibson to a 3 year, $30 million contract, according to ESPN's Jeff Passan. Gibson joins a Rangers rotation led by Mike Minor and Lance Lynn. This is the 3rd straight season Texas has given a pitcher a 3 year deal, with Minor and Lynn getting deals the last two offseasons. Gibson had a good 2019 with the Minnesota Twins, going 13-7 with a 4.84 ERA. He was a career 67-68 with a 4.52 ERA with the Twins.

The Milwaukee Brewers have traded OF Trent Grisham and RHP Zach Davies to the San Diego Padres in exchange for IF Luis Urias, LHP Eric Lauer, and either a player to be named later or cash. Grisham was named the most outstanding player in the Brewers farm system in 2019, and he hit .231 with 6 homers and 24 RBI in his time with the Brewers. He will be remembered for making the error in right field that led to the Washington Nationals winning the wild card game. Davies had a 3.55 ERA in 159 2/3 innings for the Brewers.

Urias was a former top prospect, rising as high as number 16 on MLB pipeline's rankings. He has just 120 days in the major leagues, with a .649 OPS to show for it. Lauer had a 4.45 ERA over 29 starts last season with the Padres. He comes cheap, as he'll make close to the league minimum in 2020. GM David Stearns said that "Look, we did not have good shortstop production last year, and we have been open about that, for  us to ultimately do what we want to do ... production from that position has to improve. Having competition at that position is not a bad thing."
