The Arizona Diamondbacks have signed LHP Madison Bumgarner to a 5 year, $85 million deal, according to MLB.com's Mark Feinsand. Bumgarner's deal includes a limited no trade clause, which includes 5 unknown teams. Bumgarner had Arizona as his number one destination in free agency because he loves Arizona and he owns horses in the Phoenix area. The D-Backs will lose their second round draft pick due to signing Bumgarner, because the San Francisco Giants offered him a qualifying offer after the world series.

Bumgarner made the all star game 4 times in his Giants tenure. He posted a 3.90 ERA over 207 2/3 innings for the Giants in 2019. He has quite a resume, having won 3 world series titles and the 2014 world series MVP. He'll bring a veteran leadership mentality to the Arizona locker room, which they could use to push for the playoffs in 2020. Bumgarner will lead a group of starters in Arizona including Robbie Ray, Zac Gallen, Luke Weaver, Mike Leake, Alex Young, and Merrill Kelly.
