The postseason hero is back. The Washington Nationals have re-signed IF Howie Kendrick to a one year, $6.25 million deal, according to The Athletic's Ken Rosenthal. There is a mutual option for the 2021 season. Kendrick had a solid regular season in 2019, hitting .344 with 17 homers and 62 RBI in 121 games. Kendrick had a large role in the world series championship for Washington, hitting the go ahead grand slam in NLDS game 5 to send them to the NLCS, hit .333 in the NLCS, and a go ahead, game winning two run homer in game 7 of the world series. Kendrick has hit a career .294 with 125 homers and 710 RBI in 14 seasons.

The Minnesota Twins have re-signed RHP Michael Pineda to a two year, $20 million deal, according to Dan Haynes of The Athletic. Pineda had a 4.01 ERA over 26 starts for the Twins before getting suspended 60 games for drug use. That suspension will keep him out for the first 39 games of 2020. Pineda currently sits as the number 3 starter in the rotation, behind Jose Berrios and Jake Odorizzi. The final two spots in the rotation are up for grabs, with Brusdar Graterol, Lewis Thorpe, Randy Dobnak, and Devin Smelter competing for them.

The New York Mets have re-signed RHP Brad Brach to a one year deal, the team announced Friday afternoon. There is a club option for the 2021 season. Brach will be paid $850,000 in 2020, and $1.25 million in 2021 if the option is exercised. Brach will earn $1.35 million in 2020 because he is still owed $500,000 from the Chicago Cubs. He had a 6.13 ERA for the Cubs in 42 appearances, and a 3.68 ERA in 16 appearances for the Mets. Chris Flexen was DFA'd to make room for Brach.

The Minnesota Twins have signed C Alex Avila to a one year, $4.25 million deal, according to ESPN's Jeff Passan. Avila hit .184 with 16 homers and 44 RBI in his last two seasons, both spent with the Arizona Diamondbacks. Avila is slated to be C Mitch Garver's backup in Minnesota. Avila has averaged a .235 average, hitting 103 homers and 386 RBI in 11 seasons. Avila has been a great defensive catcher, improving his runs saved statistics and his pitch framing skills while in Arizona.
