Minor free agency moves during the winter meetings

   The big names of Stephen Strasburg, Gerrit Cole, and Anthony Rendon stole the show at the winter meetings in San Diego. We'll look at the more minor moves that happened this week.

   The New York Mets have signed RHP Michael Wacha to a one year, $3 million deal, according to Tim Healey of Newsday. Wacha could earn another $4 million in bonuses. Wacha's agent is from the Creative Artists Agency, where Mets GM Brodie Van Wagenen worked before he took the job as Mets GM. Wacha posted a shaky 4.76 ERA in 24 starts for the St.Louis Cardinals in 2019. His best season was in 2015, when he had a 3.38 ERA with 17 wins.

   The Toronto Blue Jays have signed RHP Tanner Roark to a two year, $24 million deal, according to Ben Nicholson-Smith of Sportsnet. Roark went 10-10 with a 4.35 ERA in 165 1/3 innings between the Cincinnati Reds and Oakland Athletics. He is reliable, having made 30 starts in 5 of the last 6 seasons. He finished 10th in NL Cy Young voting after a stellar 2016 in Washington. The Blue Jays are reportedly in the market for starting pitching, and Roark is a nice get.

   The Milwaukee Brewers have signed RHP Josh Lindblom to a 3 year, $9 million deal, according to ESPN's Jeff Passan. Lindblom can earn a max of $18 million in bonuses. Lindblom was named the Korean Baseball League's MVP last season, winning 20 games with a 2.50 ERA over 194 2/3 innings. Lindblom last pitched in the majors in 2017 for the Pittsburgh Pirates. He has a 4.10 ERA over 5 major league seasons with the Pirates, Texas Rangers, Oakland Athletics, Los Angeles Dodgers, and Philadelphia Phillies.

   The Los Angeles Dodgers have signed RHP Blake Treinen to a one year, $10 million deal, according to ESPN's Jeff Passan. There are no incentives or options in Treinen's deal. He was non tendered by the Oakland Athletics after a disappointing 2019 highlighted by injury and inconsistency. Treinen had a 4.91 ERA last year and lost his closers job to Liam Hendriks. He had a stellar 2018, finishing with a sparkling 0.78 ERA with 38 saves for Oakland.

   The New York Yankees have signed OF Brett Gardner to a one year, $12.5 million deal, according to George A King of the New York Post. There is a $10 million option for the 2021 season. That option has a $2.5 million buyout on top of the $10 million he will earn in 2020. Gardner will start in centerfield for the Yankees while Aaron Hicks recovers from Tommy John Surgery. Gardner hit .251 with 28 homers and 74 RBI in 141 games in 2019. Gardner has hit .260 with 124 homers and 524 RBI in his 12 seasons, all with the Yankees.

   The New York Mets have signed RHP Rick Porcello to a one year, $10 million deal, according to Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic. Porcello will join a Mets rotation that features Jacob Degrom, Noah Syndergaard, Marcus Stroman, Steven Matz, and perhaps Michael Wacha. Porcello won the AL Cy Young in 2016 but struggled in 2019, going 14-12 with a 5.52 ERA with the Boston Red Sox.
