The Toronto Blue Jays have signed LHP Hyun-Jin Ryu to a 4 year, $80 million deal, according to ESPN's Jeff Passan. Ryu has no opt outs and a partial no trade clause. The teams on the no trade clause aren't known. Ryu had a resurgent 2019, going 14-5 with a 2.32 ERA and 163 strikeouts over 182 2/3 innings pitched for the Los Angeles Dodgers. Ryu will immediately become the ace of Toronto's rotation.

Ryu finished second in the National League Cy Young voting last year. He has spent his entire 6 year career with the Dodgers, going 54-33 with a 2.98 ERA over 740 1/3 innings pitched in that timespan. Before he signed with the Dodgers, he played for the Hanwha Eagles in the Korean Baseball Organization, going 98-52 with a 2.80 ERA over 1,269 innings pitched from 2006 to 2012.

The Blue Jays have been busy of late, as they signed corner infielder Travis Shaw to a one year deal in addition to signing Ryu. They have also been linked to a reunion with LHP David Price, as they've been talking to the Boston Red Sox about trading for him. They have also been linked to 1B/DH Edwin Encarnacion, who played with Toronto previously as well as Price.
