The Los Angeles Dodgers have signed LHP Alex Wood to a one year, $4 million deal, according to Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic. There are performance bonuses in Wood's contract that could max out his 2020 salary at $10 million. Wood has passed the physical needed to complete the deal, although the Dodgers haven't made it official yet. Wood tweeted on Twitter, saying simply "we back."

Wood has been hammered by injuries in recent years, appearing in just 7 games for the Cincinnati Reds last season. Wood went 1-3 with a 5.80 ERA and 30 strikeouts over 35 2/3 innings pitched. Wood played for the Dodgers from 2015 to 2018, becoming a staple of their rotation and contributing to multiple playoff teams, including their runs to the world series in 2017 and 2018, though the Dodgers came up short both times. He had a career season in 2017, posting a 2.72 ERA with 151 strikeouts in 152 1/3 innings pitched, making the all star game that year.

Wood was traded to the Reds in a blockbuster in the start of 2019, along with Yasiel Puig and Matt Kemp. A back injury ultimately crippled Wood's season in Cincinnati. Wood has a career 53-43 record, with a 3.40 ERA and 768 strikeouts over 839 innings pitched. Wood is expected to compete with new signing Jimmy Nelson, along with top prospects Dustin May and Tony Gonsolin, for two starting rotation spots in spring training.
