The Minnesota Twins have extended 3B Miguel Sano for 3 years and $30 million, according to ESPN's Jeff Passan. The extension avoids arbitration with Sano and buys out two years of free agency. He'll be payed $9 million per season for 3 years, and there is a club option for the 2023 season. That option is worth $14 million with a $3 million buyout, guaranteeing Sano $30 million.

Sano had a fantastic 2019, hitting .247 with 34 homers and 79 RBI in 105 games played. Over 5 career seasons, Sano has a career .245 average with 118 homers and 315 RBI. He has a career .498 slugging percentage. He finished 3rd in voting for AL rookie of the year in 2015 and was selected to the all star game in 2017. He has been injured frequently, having surgeries to repair a stress reaction in his left shin in 2017 and to repair his right achillies tendon before the 2019 season started.
