Alright, back to Baseball. The San Diego Padres and IF Brian Dozier have agreed to a minor league contract, according to MLB insider Robert Murray. Dozier's contract includes an invite to major league spring training. If he makes the Padres roster, Dozier will earn $2.2 million with the potential to raise his salary with incentives. Dozier's contract has been confirmed and he is in camp with the Padres.

Padres manager Jayce Tingler said of bringing in Dozier that "He's been to the World Series the last two years in a row, he's got a really good track record, a very good resume. He's played on a lot of winning teams, especially the last couple years. We're excited to get around him." Padres 1B Eric Hosmer said of Dozier that "He's an excellent defender, 40-home-run hitter, he was part of that group that turned that team around in Minnesota. ... He's a good fit."

In 2019, Dozier hit .238 with 20 homers and 50 RBI with 3 stolen bases in 135 games played with the Washington Nationals. Dozier is a career .245 hitter with 192 homers and 561 RBI with 105 stolen bases in 1,137 games played across 8 major league seasons. Dozier has played with the Nationals, Minnesota Twins, and Los Angeles Dodgers in his career, reaching the world series with the Dodgers and Nationals, and winning it with Washington.

Dozier was named to the MLB all star game in 2015. He emerged as one of the best sluggers at second base in his Twins tenure. He hit 145 homers from 2013 to 2017 with the Twins, the most among second baseman in that stretch, and 13th most overall. Dozier will compete with Jurickson Profar for the second base job in spring training after Luis Urias was traded and Ian Kinsler retired.
