The New York Yankees have informed their minor league players of another minor league player in their organization testing positive for Coronavirus(COVID-19), according to ESPN's Jeff Passan. The Yankees are following directives from local and federal health officials. All minor leaguers in their system remain quarantined and are being tested for COVID-19. RHP Denny Larrondo was the first Yankees minor leaguer to test positive for COVID-19 over the weekend.

The Yankees last week voted unanimously to stay at the team's spring training facilities in Tampa, FL, during the COVID-19 Pandemic to work out as a group. Since then, the CDC has restricted gatherings of 50 or more people nationwide, and the MLB has encouraged players and coaches to go either to their offseason homes or their team's cities. Larrondo and the newest minor leaguer to test positive reportedly only have been exposed to the Yankees minor league camp in Tampa, and haven't had contact with any major league players. Several Yankees have since left camp and are headed home, including manager Aaron Boone.

Some of the Yankees players have publicly expressed their feelings on being the first organization in the MLB to have players with positive COVID-19 tests. LHP JA Happ said that "Again, it's starting to hit home more every day, it seems like, so we're just preparing and trying to be smart if we can and paying attention to the news." LHP Zack Britton said of the delayed opening of the season that "We don't know how long this delay is going to be, if you're talking about it's going to be the end of May or June or something like that, guys might take a few weeks and go home. There's a give and take a little bit. You don't want to just consistently be training at a really, really high level when we're not going to start action again until another two months or so. You want to be healthy. It's going to be tricky."
