After spending almost a full month at Fenway Park, for summer camp and the first 5 games of the season, the Red Sox needed a change of scenery to snap their 4 game losing streak. They found it in New York. Christian Vazquez had 3 RBI, Mitch Moreland came up clutch, and the Boston Red Sox snapped their 4 game losing streak with a 6-5 win over the New York Mets.

It was the Mets who scored first however, as Jeff McNeil scored on a fielders choice in the first inning to make it 1-0. It stayed that way until the 4th inning, when Moreland doubled to deep center field, scoring Rafael Devers to tie the game up. Two wild pitches later, Moreland scored to make it 2-1 Red Sox. The lead didn't last long, as Brandon Nimmo tied the game in the 5th with a towering homer to left field. In the 6th, the Mets took the lead on an Andres Gimenez triple. In the 7th, Vazquez belted a solo homer to left to tie the game at 3. In the 8th, Moreland hit an infield single that McNeil couldn't handle, putting Boston ahead 4-3. Vazquez then hit a two run single to right field to make it 6-3. In the bottom of the 8th, Yoenis Cespedes launched a solo homer to make it 6-4. In the 9th, JD Davis hit an infield single to make it 6-5, but the Red Sox were able to hold them there.

Heath Hembree got the win for the Red Sox, facing just one batter in the bottom of the 7th inning, which was a strikeout. Starter Nathan Eovaldi went 5 innings, giving up two runs on 8 hits and one walk, striking out 4 hitters. Brandon Workman picked up his first save of the season in the 9th. Marcus Walden, Josh Osich, and Matt Barnes also pitched for the Red Sox.

Justin Wilson took the loss for the Mets, getting only two outs in the 8th inning, giving up 3 runs on 3 hits and 3 walks. Starter Jacob Degrom went 6 innings, giving up two runs on 3 hits and one walk, striking out 4 hitters. Seth Lugo, Dellin Betances, and Jeurys Familia also pitched for the Mets.

Eovaldi said of the change of scenery postgame that ''We're all together here in the clubhouse, we got the mask on. We're staying same apart and stuff like that, but we're all together in the clubhouse. And I think that's what we miss the most. It's nice having the suites and everything, but I feel like we never see each other.''

Red Sox manager Ron Roenicke said that ''I think actually it was nice leaving leaving Fenway, we'd been there for so long with the training camp and then opening it up there, so it was probably a nice thing for them to feel a little different atmosphere.''

Mets first baseman Pete Alonso said that ''It's frustrating, usually when Jake is on the mound, we're getting somebody's best. So it's basically a clash of the clash of the titans out there.'' Wilson, who got the loss, said of his performance that ''I don't think I was tired. I didn't really have my best stuff, I thought I was going to sneak out of it. Kind of a tough one to know where those hits were kind of placed.''

The two game series in Queens ends tonight, where the Red Sox try to sweep the Mets at their home after the Mets did it to the Red Sox at Fenway. Martin Perez starts for the Red Sox as they try to get that done. The Mets will try and avoid the sweep by sending Steven Matz to the mound.
