In a game the Angels desperately needed to win, Tommy La Stella stepped up. La Stella had three RBI, including a walk off homer, and the Los Angeles Angels snapped their 4 game losing streak with a 7-6 win over the San Francisco Giants. The Angels also prolonged the Giants losing streak, which went up to 5 games.

The Giants started the scoring in the first inning, when Brandon Belt hit a two run homer to center field to make it 2-0 Giants. It stayed that way until the 3rd inning, when La Stella hit a sac fly and Mike Trout homered to tie the game at two. In the 5th, the Giants took a 3-2 lead on an Alex Dickerson ground out. That didn't last long, as Anthony Rendon hit an RBI double, and Albert Pujols hit a two run double to make it 5-3 Angels. That lead also didn't last long, as the Giants scored 3 runs in the 6th, on a sac fly by Chadwick Tromp and a two run homer by Mike Yastrzemski. That held until the 9th, when La Stella hit a walkoff two run homer.

The Angels improved to 8-15 with the win, which has been a disappointing start. La Stella said postgame that ''We haven't all been clicking at the same time yet, but this is a great team, and these guys are resilient and we've been pushing through it, hopefully this is the start of something.'' Manager Joe Maddon said that ''We've been in this position to win a lot of games, we have to learn how to win late, and we're still searching for that.''

Ty Buttrey got the win for the Angels, his first of the year. He worked a one-two-three 9th inning. Griffin Canning got the start for the Angels, throwing 4 2/3 innings. Canning allowed 3 runs on 6 hits, walking no one and striking out two hitters. Hoby Milner, Noe Ramirez, Mike Mayers, and Felix Pena also pitched for the Angels.

Trevor Gott took the loss for the Giants, as he pitched in the 9th, and gave up the walk off homer to La Stella. The blown save for Gott was his third of the year. Despite this, manager Gabe Kapler still has confidence in Gott. Kapler said postgame that ''In the long term, my confidence in Trevor Gott has not changed, in the short term, we'll look for a softer landing spot for him. I think we're going to need to figure out how to get his confidence back.''

Belt, who homered in the first, showed his disappointment in the Giants 5 game losing streak, but still remains optimistic. Belt said that ''It's been a rough few games, but this doesn't have to define our season, we're going through a rut right now, and unfortunately we don't have a lot of time to stay in this rut, so we've got to figure out something quickly.''

This series concludes Tuesday, where the Giants will try to snap their losing streak when they send Trevor Cahill, who pitched for the Angels last season, to the mound. The Angels send their best starter so far this season in Dylan Bundy to the mound.
