After over a week of no games due to the COVID-19 outbreak within their organization, the Miami Marlins finally took the field again, with almost 20 different players from a week ago. In that first game back, the Marlins didn't skip a beat. Jesus Aguilar homered, the offense jumped over ace John Means, and the Marlins shut out the Baltimore Orioles by a 4-0 score to improve to 3-1 on the season.

The scoring didn't start until the 5th inning, when Francisco Cervelli launched a solo homer over the left field wall to make it 1-0 Marlins. In the 6th, Jon Berti hit an RBI single to center field, and Berti scored on a fielders choice and error to make it 3-0 Marlins. Aguilar capped the scoring in the 8th with a towering solo homer to left field to make it 4-0 and seal up the win for Miami.

Pablo Lopez started and got the win for the Marlins, throwing 5 innings, allowing just two hits, walking no one. He struck out 7 hitters. James Hoyt, Richard Bleier, Brad Boxberger, and Brandon Kintzler also pitched for the Marlins, in relief of Lopez. Orioles manager Brandon Hyde said of Lopez's performance that ''Give him credit. He threw a really nice game, we just didn't swing the bats well."

Means started and took the loss for Baltimore, throwing 4 2/3 innings, allowing one run on two hits, striking out 4 Marlins. Travis Lakins, Paul Fry, and Tom Eshelman pitched in relief of Means. The Orioles had their 3 game winning streak snapped by the Marlins after a shocking sweep of division rival Tampa Bay.

Marlins manager Don Mattingly said postgame about the team's COVID outbreak, which sent 18 players to the COVID IL, that ''We've just got to try to hold down the fort and get some guys back, survive this trip and see where we're at, this one felt good. We've been through a lot. We lost some guys, but we like our guys who are coming up."

The two teams will play a doubleheader on Wednesday, with both games being 7 innings long, as part of MLB's new rule for doubleheaders this season. Mattingly said that Elieser Hernandez will make the start in the first game, but didn't announce a starter for game two. For the Orioles, Alex Cobb will get the start for the first game, while Asher Wojciechowski will start the second game.
