The trade deadline for the shortened MLB regular season is on August 31, and with that date fast approaching, it's time to take a look at some guys who could be traded at the deadline.

Zach Plesac, RHP, Cleveland Indians
Plesac and Mike Clevinger both broke COVID-19 guidelines at the start of the season, and after deliberation among the team, both were sent to the alternate training site because of it. However, Clevinger is back with the Indians, while Plesac remains stashed away, as president Chris Antonetti told him there is no major league opportunity in Cleveland for Plesac at this time. Add this to the fact that he was having a breakout season prior to breaking guidelines and you've got yourself a prime trade candidate.

Lance Lynn, RHP, Texas Rangers
Ever since arriving in Texas in 2019, Lynn's career has boosted back up, with him becoming a top end starter in Texas. The Rangers have already said they'll listen to offers on Lynn as the deadline approaches, and with many teams in need of pitching help, they might just get a good enough offer to move him. He's also on a very team friendly contract, and possesses the second lowest ERA in the AL.

Johnny Cueto, RHP, San Francisco Giants
Cueto is looking for a bounce back season after being wrecked by injuries, and he may have found it. His actual numbers aren't spectacular, but the durability he was known for prior to his injuries has returned, as his pitch count has been built up start by start. The danger with Cueto is that he is owed $27 million that is left on his contract, so the Giants may have to eat a significant portion of that if they want to get a deal done.

Mychal Givens, RHP, Baltimore Orioles
After a torrid start to the season, the Orioles have fallen back to earth, and such are looking to be sellers. Givens is one of their best relievers, with good numbers and control beyond this season. He hasn't allowed a single homer, and his ERA is a sparkling 0.77, one of the best. The Orioles could indeed get some good offers on Givens.

Trevor Rosenthal, RHP, Royals
After an absolutely disastrous 2019 season, Rosenthal has regained his form with the Royals. He has become their closer with a 1.46 ERA. As such, he's garnered a lot of interest from teams who need bullpen help. His comeback story is one that shouldn't be taken lightly, and it may lead to a good return for a rebuilding Royals team.
