You can never count out a team that has Mike Trout on it. Trout homered twice, Shohei Ohtani added a homer, and the Los Angeles Angels came back from a 5 run deficit to snap the Oakland Athletics' 9 game win streak with a 10-9 win. After finding themselves trailing 9-4 entering the bottom of the 4th inning, the high flying Angels lineup, lead by Trout, roared back to take the lead in the 8th inning.

The Angels started the scoring in the first inning, when David Fletcher scored on a wild pitch and Anthony Rendon hit a two run homer to left field, making it 3-0 Angels early. In the second inning, Matt Chapman hit a solo homer, Stephen Piscotty hit an RBI single, and then scored on a wild pitch to tie the game at 3. In the 3rd, Chapman gave Oakland the lead with a two run shot to center field to make it 5-3. The Angels made it 5-4 when Trout scored on a Justin Upton ground out. In the 4th, with the bases loaded, Chapman hit a triple, scoring all 3 runs. Chapman then scored on a fielding error to make it 9-4. In the bottom of the 4th, Trout hit a two run homer and Rendon scored on a grounder to make it 9-7 Oakland. In the 6th, Ohtani hit a two run homer to center field, tying the game at 9. In the 8th, Trout delivered with the go ahead run, in the form of a solo homer, to make it 10-9 Angels, completing the comeback.

Felix Pena got the win for the Angels, throwing a clean 8th inning. Starter Julio Teheran threw 2 innings for the Angels, allowing 5 runs on 5 hits and two walks, striking out one hitter. Ty Buttrey picked up his second save of the season, working the 9th inning. Matt Andriese, Noe Ramirez, and Keynan Middleton also pitched for the Angels.

The bullpen, often the problem with the Angels, has looked sturdy lately, and manager Joe Maddon said of their play postgame that ''They struggled early in the season, but hopefully the issue has resolved itself, normally it takes a month to get a bullpen in order and we are trying to do it more quickly.''

Trout spoke about the big win, saying that ''We had a rough weekend. We weren't doing our jobs when we had our chances, but this is a new homestand and we got a huge win against an Oakland team that was coming in hot.''

Yusmeiro Petit took the loss for the Athletics, as he was on the mound for Trout's tiebreaking homer in the 8th. Starter Sean Manaea threw 2 2/3 innings for Oakland, allowing 4 runs on 7 hits and 3 walks, striking out just one hitter. Manager Bob Melvin said postgame that ''We had a couple of bad pitches, plus pretty good hitting lineup on their part, too, our guys have been pretty good this season and it was just a tough night. Tonight was an offensive night and hitters got their due. For a bullpen that's been as good as we have been, we just gave up some runs tonight.''

The series continues on Tuesday at Angel stadium, where the Angels look to continue the good times when Dylan Bundy takes the mound. Oakland will be looking to rebound with Mike Fiers taking the mound.
