The Minnesota Twins are looking really good to start the season. Miguel Sano hit two homers, Kenta Maeda threw 6 innings, and the Twins shut out the Cleveland Indians by a 3-0 score Saturday night. Maeda was acquired in February from the Dodgers in exchange for Brusdar Graterol.

The Twins got on the board in the 3rd inning when Sano launched a homer to center field to make it 1-0 Twins. It didn't stay that way for long, as Eddie Rosario hit a solo homer to left field to double the lead, making it 2-0 Twins. It didn't stay that way for long either, as Sano launched another solo homer, this time to left field, to make it 3-0 Twins in the 5th.

Maeda got the win for the Twins, throwing 6 scoreless innings, allowing just one hit and one walk, striking out 6 hitters. Taylor Rogers got the save, pitching a clean 9th inning for the Twins. Trevor May and Cody Stashak also pitched for the Twins. In his two starts with the Twins this season, Maeda has allowed just two runs in 11 innings pitched. Sano entered the game with just one hit on the season, but he got a couple big ones in this game.

Carlos Carrasco started and took the loss for the Indians, throwing 6 innings, allowing 3 runs on 6 hits and one walk, striking out 5 hitters. Adam Cimber and Cam Hill pitched in relief of Carrasco. Before the game, the Indians announced that they traded RHP James Hoyt to the Miami Marlins for cash considerations, after Hoyt was DFA'd a few days ago.

The Indians have injured outfielder Tyler Naquin working out at their alternate training site, and he'll be participating in sim games at the site starting on Monday. Injured C Roberto Perez is also making progress on his shoulder, increasing the strengthening exercises on his shoulder, and will begin throwing in 3-4 days, according to manager Terry Francona.

The Twins left 3B Josh Donaldson out of the lineup due to right calf tightness. Donaldson is undergoing treatment on his calf and is day to day, according to manager Rocco Baldelli. The Twins also placed RHP Zack Littell on the 10 day IL with a left hamstring strain retroactive to July 31. Baldelli said the injury was minor, and they expect to have him back when the 10 days is up.

The series concludes today at 2:10, with RHP Homer Bailey drawing the start for the Twins. The Indians are countering with RHP Aaron Civale.
