Kenta Maeda is looking really good with the Twins. Maeda dominated again, Byron Buxton hit two homers, and the Minnesota Twins dispatched the Milwaukee Brewers with a 12-2 drubbing. The Twins haven't skipped a beat since 2019, and Maeda in particular has dominated with his new team.

The Twins started the scoring in the second inning, when Jake Cave hit an RBI double, Luis Arraez hit an RBI single, Jorge Polanco hit an RBI single, Nelson Cruz hit an RBI single, and Polanco scored on a wild pitch, making it 5-0 Twins. In the 3rd, Miguel Sano absolutely destroyed a solo homer to left field to make it 6-0 Twins. In the 4th, Marwin Gonzalez hit an RBI double to make it 7-0. In the 5th, Buxton hit a solo homer, Arraez scored on a bases loaded walk, Mitch Garver scored on a bases loaded walk, and Polanco scored on a sac fly to make it 11-0 Twins. In the 6th, Buxton hit a solo homer to make it 12-0. The Brewers got their two runs on a Luis Urias two run single in the bottom of the 6th.

Maeda got the win to remain undefeated with the Twins, improving to 3-0. Maeda threw 6 2/3 innings, allowing two runs on 5 hits and one walk, striking out 5 hitters. He started the game by retiring the first 11 batters he faced. He was acquired from the Los Angeles Dodgers in February in exchange for RHP Brusdar Graterol.

The Twins set the tone with their 5 run second inning, thanks to 4 singles and a wild pitch, and Sano then upped the lead to 6 with an absolute moonshot. The domination increased, as they were able to make it 12-0 before the Brewers pushed a run across the plate. That made manager Rocco Baldelli happy, as he said postgame that ''You look at the lineup from top to bottom, it was an explosive night and unrelenting, and that's what we're looking for."

Eric Lauer lasted just 3 2/3 innings for the Brewers, taking the loss. Lauer allowed 7 runs on 9 hits and two walks, striking out two hitters. Lauer said postgame that ''It felt like there was a lot more just kind of bad baseball luck happening there, I was making some competitive pitches, wasn't getting a whole lot of calls, just wasn't attacking as much as I should have been.''

With the loss, the Brewers lost the series, and fell to 2-6 at home this season. Justin Grimm, who came in to relieve Lauer, had to be removed after discovering a callous on his index finger that opened up. Eric Yardley, Corey Knebel, and Brent Suter pitched for Milwaukee, and the team also turned to 3rd baseman Jedd Gyorko to pitch the 9th inning, which was a scoreless inning for Gyorko.

After an off day on Thursday, the Twins start a stretch of 20 straight games, starting with a series against the Kansas City Royals on Friday, where Jake Odorizzi will start. The Brewers travel to Chicago to face the Cubs, where Brett Anderson will start for Milwaukee.
