The Chicago White Sox love to hit. Luis Robert homered, Jose Abreu drove in 3 runs, and the White Sox outslugged the Kansas City Royals on the way to an 11-6 win Thursday night. Robert was one of 3 White Sox to homer on the night, and the White Sox are now 0.5 games behind the Cleveland Indians for the AL Central lead.

The Royals got the scoring started in the first inning, when Hunter Dozier hit a solo homer to center field. In the second inning, Edwin Encarnacion hit a solo homer, Tim Anderson drew a bases loaded walk, Danny Mendick scored on a wild pitch, and Abreu hit a two run double, making it 5-1 White Sox. In the 4th, Anderson hit a solo homer to center field to make it 6-1. In the 6th, Alex Gordon hit an RBI double, and Nicky Lopez hit a two run double to make it 6-4 White Sox. In the 7th, Abreu hit an RBI single, Yoan Moncada hit a sac fly, and Robert hit a 3 run homer to left field to make it 11-4. In the 8th, the Royals got two runs on groundouts to make it 11-6, which held.

Dylan Cease got the win for the White Sox, increasing his record to 5-2 on the season. Cease threw 5 innings, allowing 3 runs on 4 hits and two walks, striking out just one hitter. Cease only had one clean inning, but that didn't stop him from limiting the Royals. Still, Cease didn't like his performance, saying after the game that ''I don't think I executed that great, there was a lot of room to get better.''

The White Sox have won 6 of their last 10 games, and increased their record to 25-13 with the win. Thanks to their impressive lineup, the bullpen didn't have to do too much in the game, simply keep the Royals at bay, which they were able to do. Bernardo Flores Jr and Matt Foster allowed runs, but the hitting core kept producing, leading to the win. Evan Marshall and Steve Cishek also pitched for the White Sox.

Danny Duffy took the loss for the Royals, with his record falling to 2-3 with the loss. Duffy threw 6 innings, allowing 6 runs on 7 hits and 5 walks, striking out 3 hitters. Duffy said after the game that ''Nothing felt physically off in terms of stuff, it's just that I couldn't put my fastball where I wanted it today. There will be days like this. I walked five people, I think I might have doubled my walks this year. The free passes are what really kind of irks me. I've worked my butt off the last year to eliminate those. The five in a game is just unacceptable but so is five runs in an inning.''

The series continues on Friday, where the Royals will look to bounce back as Brady Singer gets the start. Fellow Rookie Dane Dunning starts for the White Sox.
