Ramon Laureano strikes again. Sean Manaea had a strong outing. Laureano hit the game winning homer in the 9th inning, and the Oakland Athletics topped the Los Angeles Dodgers by a 6-4 score. The win gives Oakland some more footing in the playoff seeding battle, as they are currently chasing the Minnesota Twins for the second seed in the AL playoff field.

Oakland started the scoring in the first inning, when Robbie Grossman hit an RBI double to make it 1-0 Oakland. Grossman then scored on a Mark Canha sac fly, and Marcus Semien scored on an error to make it 3-0 Oakland. It stayed that way until the 3rd, when Max Muncy hit a two run homer to right field, getting the Dodgers on the board and making it a 3-2 game. It stayed that way until the 7th, when Laureano hit an RBI single to make it 4-2. In the bottom of the 7th, Cody Bellinger hit a solo homer to bring the Dodgers within one, and Edwin Rios hit a solo shot in the 8th to tie it at 4. That set the stage for Laureano to deliver, hitting a two run homer in the 9th to make it 6-4 Oakland.

Laureano got the chance to address the playoff race after the game, despite Oakland having already won the AL West. Laureano said that ''I guess it's going to keep changing for everybody for these next six games. We're just trying to win and win and win, and we don't care who we play, we're just trying to keep competing, get that winning culture going into the postseason.''

Jake Diekman got the win for Oakland, pitching the bottom of the 8th, responsible for the tying homer by Rios, the only hit Diekman allowed. Sean Manaea got the start for Oakland, getting the no decision, keeping his record at 4-3 on the season. Manaea threw 6 innings, allowing 3 runs on 6 hits and one walk, striking out 4 hitters. Liam Hendriks worked a scoreless 9th inning for the save, his 14th of the season. Joakim Soria also got action for the A's, working the 7th after Manaea was lifted early in that inning.

Joe Kelly served as the opener for the Dodgers, getting one inning of work, giving up the 3 runs in the first inning. Julio Urias pitched 6 strong innings in relief, allowing one run on two hits and two walks, striking out 5 hitters. Blake Treinen got the loss for the Dodgers, giving up the winning homer to Laureano in the 9th, his record falling to 3-3 as a result. Brusdar Graterol also pitched for the Dodgers, working the second inning in relief of Kelly.

The series concludes on Thursday, where the A's look to stay hot when Mike Fiers takes the mound. The Dodgers have activated Walker Buehler from the 10 day IL to make the start, as they look to get the rotation locked in for the playoffs.
