From college walk on to major league starter, Alec Mills has had quite the journey. In just the 15th start of his major league career, Mills dominated the powerful Milwaukee Brewers offense, throwing a no hitter as the Cubs backed him up with a commanding 12-0 win. Mills' no hitter is the second of the season, as Lucas Giolito threw a no hitter against the Pittsburgh Pirates on August 25.

The game was scoreless until the 4th inning, when the Cubs offense woke up. Jason Heyward hit an RBI double, Javier Baez scored on a fielding error, Victor Caratini hit an RBI single, and Ian Happ hit a two run single, making it 5-0 Cubs. In the 5th, Jason Kipnis hit a two run sac fly, and David Bote hit a two run homer to make it 9-0 Cubs. In the 7th, Caratini hit an RBI double to make it 10-0. In the 9th, Heyward scored on a groundout and Kipnis scored on a sac fly to make it 12-0 Cubs.

Mills walked three batters in his no hit performance, striking out 5 hitters. Mills said after the game that ''It just hasn't really hit me yet, it's kind of crazy, I didn't even know how to celebrate. Just something that all came together today. Obviously a memory I'll have forever. I can promise you it was not a slow heartbeat,'' Mills said. ''I had to kind of take a seat and calm myself down. It was tough. I had to take a lot of deep breaths and get into a good mindset.''

Adrian Houser threw 4 innings for the Brewers, getting the loss. Houser allowed 7 runs on 4 hits and 4 walks, striking out 5 hitters. The Brewers sent SS Orlando Arcia in to pitch the 9th inning, as they were already down 10 runs. Manager Craig Counsell was not happy after the game, saying that ''Nothing went right today. We didn't play a good game, we played a poor game and we lost. We have to turn the page and know that there's still a lot of important baseball left in front of us.''

After a day off on Monday, the Cubs welcome the Cleveland Indians to town for a quick two game series, with Yu Darvish getting the start Tuesday night. The Brewers welcome the St.Louis Cardinals to town for a 5 game series, starting with a doubleheader on Monday. Josh Lindblom gets the start in game one, with Corbin Burnes starting the second game.
