The Boston Red Sox have a number of veterans on their team, namely Xander Bogaerts, JD Martinez, Jackie Bradley Jr, and several others. In their Sunday matinee matchup against the Yankees, however, it was all about the kids. Michael Chavis homered twice, Tanner Houck dominated, and the Red Sox routed the New York Yankees by a 10-2 score.

The Red Sox got the scoring started in the second inning, when Chavis blasted a two run homer past the Green Monster, making it 2-0 Red Sox. In the 3rd inning, Bradley Jr hit an RBI single, and Chavis blasted another homer, this one a 3 run shot, making it 6-0 Red Sox. It stayed that way until the 6th, when the Yankees got on the board when Luke Voit grounded into a double play, making it a 6-1 game. In the 7th inning, Bobby Dalbec hit a solo homer, Tzu-Wei Lin hit a sac fly, and Jonathan Arauz hit an RBI single to make it 9-1. In the 8th, Martinez hit a solo homer to make it 10-1. The Yankees got their second and final run in the 9th on a Luke Voit solo homer.

Houck got the win for the Red Sox, throwing 6 innings, in fact carrying a no hitter into the 6th. Houck allowed one run on one hit and 3 walks, striking out 4 hitters. Houck's ERA remained at 0.00, as the run he allowed was unearned. Houck rose to 2-0 this season. He said after the game that pitching at Fenway Park was ''A great experience. It's a great rivalry that I remember watching growing up. Being a part of it was amazing, going deep into the game like that with a no-hitter is truly an unbelievable experience.''

Houck's one hit was a Tyler Wade double. Houck kept the Yankees off balance with a mix of fastballs, sinkers, and sliders, managing to keep one of baseball's most deadly lineups in check. Manager Ron Roenicke was impressed, saying after the game that ''Seeing that against a really hot offense like these guys have had, it's great to see that stuff."

Yankees rookie Deivi Garcia took the loss, getting roughed up by the Red Sox lineup. Garcia lasted just 3 innings, allowing 6 runs on 8 hits and one walk, getting two strikeouts. Garcia's command was a little shaky, and he said after the game that ''I battled with that today, it kept me from being as aggressive as I wanted to be.'' Manager Aaron Boone said of Garcia's performance that ''Just a bump here for him, but all things he can correct, and go out and do what we've seen in his next one."

The Yankees head to Buffalo for a 4 game series against the Toronto Blue Jays, where Michael King is expected to start for the Yankees. The Red Sox have a day off before beginning the final home series of the season, against the Baltimore Orioles, where new acquisition Nick Pivetta will make his Red Sox debut.
