Tampa Bay wins series 3-2
Mike Brosseau finally got his revenge on Aroldis Chapman, and it couldn't have come at a better time for the Tampa Bay Rays. Tyler Glasnow started on two days rest, Brosseau hit the game winning homer, and the Rays beat the New York Yankees by a 2-1 score to advance to the ALCS.

Back at the start of September, Chapman threw a 101 mph fastball over the head of Brosseau, which cleared the benches during the game. About 5 weeks later, it was Brosseau who got the last laugh, homering on the 10th pitch of the at-bat, on a 3-2 count, to left field, landing in the second row of the bleachers, giving the Rays the lead, which they would hold on to.

It was the Yankees who started the scoring, in the 4th inning, when Aaron Judge hit a solo homer to right field, just getting over the wall to make it 1-0 Yankees. In the 5th, the Rays were able to tie it on a solo homer by Austin Meadows to right field, also just clearing the wall, making it a 1-1 game. It remained that way until the 8th, when Brosseau delivered the winning homer off Chapman.

Diego Castillo got the win and the save for the Rays, pitching in the 8th and 9th innings, both scoreless innings. Castillo allowed just one baserunner, a walk, and struck out 4 Yankees. Glasnow got the start on two days rest, pitching 2 1/3 innings, facing the Yankees lineup one time. Glasnow allowed two walks and struck out two hitters. Nick Anderson came on to relieve Glasnow, giving up the solo homer to Judge, his only blemish in 2 2/3 innings of work. Pete Fairbanks then pitched the 6th and 7th innings for the Rays, bridging the gap to Castillo.

Brosseau's homer came in just his second at bat of the game, he had come in as a pinch hitter earlier in the game. While Brosseau did get the last laugh in the saga between him and Chapman, Brosseau said he wasn't thinking about that at the time, saying that "The revenge aspect, it's not a thought in my mind, we put it in the past and we moved on. We moved just straight to business."

Chapman also said after the game that he didn't have it on his mind either, even after giving up the homer. Chapman said that "I wasn't thinking about the Brosseau incident at all, that happened about a month ago. This is the way it worked out. He put a good swing on that pitch. I've got to give him credit."

Chapman got the loss for the Yankees, throwing 1 1/3 relief innings, his only blemish being the Brosseau homer. Gerrit Cole got the start on 3 days rest, throwing 5 1/3 good innings. Cole allowed one run on one hit and two walks, striking out 9 hitters. Zack Britton came in after Cole, throwing 1 1/3 scoreless innings before Chapman came on.

The Yankees head back to New York for the offseason, while the Rays will face the Houston Astros in the ALCS, starting on Sunday.
