Managerial Searches across baseball

As of now, the Boston Red Sox, Detroit Tigers, and Chicago White Sox are the 3 teams in MLB with managerial openings, after the Red Sox fired Ron Roenicke, the White Sox fired Rick Renteria, and Tigers manager Ron Gardenhire retired. With a day off in the world series, it's time for an update on where these teams stand in their searches for a new manager.

Red Sox
After announcing that Roenicke won't return, the door is open for the Red Sox to re-hire suspended Alex Cora, suspended a year for his role in the Astros sign stealing scandal of 2017. Cora seems to be the favorite due to his relationships with members of the team, but the Red Sox have interviewed some new names. Cubs third base coach Will Venable, Pirates bench coach Don Kelly, Yankees bench coach Carlos Mendoza, Miami Marlins bench coach James Rowson, Twins bench coach Mike Bell, Padres associate manager Skip Schumaker, and Diamondbacks bench coach Luis Urueta have all been interviewed for the position.

White Sox
When they announced the firing of Renteria, it seemed as if disgraced Astros manager AJ Hinch would emerge as the favorite for the job, as his yearlong suspension also expires when the world series concludes, same as Cora's. Hinch must wait to be interviewed, as he can't until his suspension ends. One person the White Sox have interviewed is Angels senior advisor of baseball operations and revered manager Tony LaRussa, who has several years of championship experience under his belt. As of now, Hinch and LaRussa are the only candidates made public, but White Sox GM Rick Hahn said he would consider any and all possibilities.

Tigers
The Tigers reportedly have both Hinch and Cora on their list, but can't speak to either candidate yet. Mendoza, also interviewed by the Red Sox, has spoken with the Tigers as well. Yankees hitting coach Marcus Thames and Dodgers first base coach George Lombard are also said to be candidates, but Lombard has not been interviewed yet, as the Dodgers are in the world series. Pirates bench coach Kelly has also interviewed, as has longtime manager Lloyd McClendon.
