The Los Angeles Angels are hiring Perry Minasian as their next GM, according to The Athletic's Ken Rosenthal. Minasian, who was the Atlanta Braves assistant GM, was one of two finalists for the Angels job, along with Jeff Kingston of the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Angels owner Arte Moreno said in a statement that "After an expansive process we are thrilled to announce Perry as our general manager. His background in scouting and player development along with his unique unserstanding of our roster construction were the leading factors in our decision. We are proud to welcome Perry, his wife Michelle, and their 4 children to the Angels family."

Minasian was named assistant GM of the Braves in 2018 by current GM Alex Anthopoulos, serving 3 seasons with the Braves. With Minasian and Anthopoulos in charge, the Braves won the NL East 3 straight seasons, also bringing in some notable names, such as Josh Donaldson, Marcell Ozuna, and Mark Melancon.

Minasian said in a statement that " I am humbled and honored to lead the baseball operations of the Los Angeles Angels. I am grateful to Arte Moreno, president John Carpino, and the entire Angels family for this opportunity. My family and I are excited to be a part of this community."

Minasian's main goal to start in Los Angeles will be to help the Angels end their postseason drought, as they haven't made it to the playoffs since 2014, despite having arguably the best player in baseball in Mike Trout on their team. The Angels have a solid core of Trout, Anthony Rendon, and Shohei Ohtani, but pitching will be the major issue for Minasian, as Dylan Bundy and Andrew Heaney were the only reliable starters last season.
