In the Cy Young race, it's a clean sweep of Ohio. Cleveland Indians RHP Shane Bieber and Cincinnati Reds RHP Trevor Bauer have won the Cy Young award for their respective leagues. Bieber and Bauer were teammates in Cleveland until the 2019 trade deadline, when Bauer was traded to the Reds in a 3 team deal with the San Diego Padres.

Bauer won his first Cy Young award, also becoming the first Reds pitcher to win the Cy Young as well. When asked at the end of the season if he expected to win the Cy Young award, Bauer said "I just don't know how you could see it any other way." Bauer topped Cubs RHP Yu Darvish and Mets RHP Jacob Degrom, who was looking to win the Cy Young for the 3rd straight year.

Bauer won the Cy Young very easily, coming in first with 27 first place votes and 3 second place, totaling 201 points. Darvish was way behind with 123, but he came in second. Degrom came in 3rd with 89 points, not receiving a single first place vote. Dinelson Lamet of the Padres and Max Fried of the Atlanta Braves came in 4th and 5th place respectively.

Bieber won the Cy Young unanimously, receving all 30 first place votes. Bieber became the first pitcher to win unanimously since Clayton Kershaw in 2014, and Bieber became the 9th pitcher in history to win unanimously. Bieber becomes the 5th Cleveland pitcher to take home the award as well.

Bieber got 210 points, finishing in first place by a lot. Kenta Maeda of the Twins came in second place with 92 points, followed by former teammate and current Blue Jays pitcher Hyun-Jin Ryu, who came in 3rd with 51 points. Gerrit Cole came in 4th, just one point behind Ryu, and Dallas Keuchel came in 5th.
