Former Red Sox pitcher praises re-hiring of Cora

Despite now playing for the Los Angeles Dodgers, David Prices loves the most notable news out of Boston. The former Red Sox pitcher praised Cora after his re-hiring was announced on Friday, and praised the Red Sox for giving Cora a second chance in baseball.

Price, in an interview with Julian McWilliams of the Boston Globe, said that "AC was respected by everyone in the clubhouse, when he spoke we listened. He's genuine, and I appreciated everything he did for me and the team. Guys respond to AC well, and he has a different relationship with everyone on the team."

Price was with the Red Sox in 2018 and 2019, Cora's first two seasons managing the team, and first two seasons managing in baseball. Price had a tight relationship with Cora, as many Red Sox players did as well. Then, Cora was suspended for one year and fired by the Red Sox in January after his role in the Houston Astros sign stealing scandal was revealed. The Red Sox were also investigated for sign stealing, but received a light punishment, and Cora was deemed innocent in what was going on in Boston.

Ron Roenicke, who served as Cora's bench coach in 2018 and 2019, and who served as manager in 2020 while Cora was suspended, had nothing but nice things to say about Cora as well. Roenicke said on an MLB Network radio appearance that I know we won a World Series, but it was how he went about his job, he's as good as I've ever seen communicating with players. He's smart, he's got instincts, and he's got good common sense. First-year guys doing what he did and the qualities he has. That's what impressed me."
