Miami Marlins GM Kim Ng has made her first major transaction as a GM. The Marlins have acquired RHP Adam Cimber from the Cleveland Indians in exchange for cash considerations, according to an announcement by the Marlins on Monday. To make room for Cimber on the 40 man roster, RHP and longest tenured Marlins player Jose Urena has been DFA'd.

Cimber spent the 2020 season flip flopping between the Indians active roster and their alternate training site. Cimber posted an 0-1 record with a 3.97 ERA and a measly 5 strikeouts in 14 appearances for the Indians this season, totaling 11 1/3 innings pitched, all out of the bullpen. In his short major league career, Cimber has a 9-12 record with a career ERA of 3.89, with 104 strikeouts and 136 1/3 innings pitched in 152 appearances, all out of the bullpen. Cimber has spent his 3 major league seasons with the San Diego Padres, as well as the Indians.

Urena had a rocky 2020 season, posting an 0-3 record with a 5.40 ERA with 15 strikeouts in 23 1/3 innings pitched for the Marlins in 2020, making 5 starts for Miami. In his career, Urena has a 32-46 record with a 4.60 ERA with 406 strikeouts in 597 innings pitched. Urena has spent all 6 of his major league seasons with the Marlins.

If Urena wasn't DFA'd as part of this trade, there were rumors he would have been non tendered by the Marlins anyway, which would make him a free agent. Now, Miami has 7 days to decide whether to place Urena on waivers, outright him to the minors, cut him, or trade him.
