Dodgers bringing back Treinen

The world champion Los Angeles Dodgers are certainly not resting on their laurels. The Dodgers have re-signed RHP Blake Treinen to a two year, $17.5 million deal, according to ESPN's Jeff Passan. Treinen will earn $6 million per season, plus a $4 million signing bonus. There is a team option for the 3rd season, worth $8 million with a $1.5 million buyout, maxing the deal at $24 million. The Dodgers have confirmed the deal.

Treinen had a solid year for the Dodgers out of the bullpen in 2020, posting a 3-3 record with a 3.86 ERA, striking out 22 hitters in 25 2/3 innings pitched across 27 relief appearances during the regular season and the playoffs. In Treinen's 7 major league seasons, he has a 29-25 record with a 3.02 ERA, throwing 425 2/3 innings across 372 appearances, 7 of which were starts.

Treinen played a pivotal role in the Dodgers world series winning season in 2020, serving as one of their best relievers in the regular and postseason, and was regarded as one of the better relief pitchers on the market. After Treinen had a poor season with the Oakland Athletics in 2019, he latched on with the Dodgers and revitalized his career.

The Dodgers bullpen looks especially dangerous for the upcoming season, as Treinen returns alongside Brusdar Graterol, Joe Kelly, Kenley Jansen, Dylan Floro, and Adam Kolarek, along with new acquisitions Corey Knebel and Tommy Kahnle, although he won't be ready for the 2021 season. The Dodgers have arguably made their bullpen better this offseason, which just makes them that much better.
