Phillies bringing in Bradley for bullpen help

The Philadelphia Phillies had a pretty terrible bullpen last season. One of the worst combined ERA's in baseball history, and the worst in the NL in 2020. They are now trying to add to it with some good pitching. The Phillies have signed RHP Archie Bradley to a one year, $6 million deal, according to MLB.com's Mark Feinsand. The deal has been confirmed by the Phillies.

Bradley posted a 2-0 record in 2020, with a 2.95 ERA and 18 strikeouts, also notching 6 saves in 18 1/3 innings pitched across 16 relief appearances. In his 6 major league seasons, Bradley has a 23-25 record with a 3.91 ERA, picking up 28 saves in 412 innings pitched across 255 appearances, 35 of which were starts.

Bradley said of signing with the Phillies that "I'm happy to be a Phillie. I'm very fired up. I had a great run in Arizona, my last month in Cincy was great, but I hit the free-agent market, and from the very beginning, Philly was the main team that was interested. They made it very known how badly they wanted me, and not just for pitching, but for some of the things I pride myself in, which is being a good teammate, being a leader. And my main focus is to win.

Bradley had spent his entire career with the Arizona Diamondbacks until the 2020 trade deadline, when he was traded to the Cincinnati Reds as they geared up for a playoff push. The Reds decided to non-tender Bradley in early December, making Bradley a free agent, which allowed the Phillies and new president of baseball operations Dave Dombrowski to make a move for him.

Bradley joins a Phillies bullpen that is in desperate need of help, any way they can get it. Bradley joins RHP Sam Coonrod and LHP Jose Alvarado as new additions to the bullpen. There are now 3 relievers with experience closing games in the Phillies bullpen, which are Bradley, Hector Neris, and Alvarado.
