Well, it would appear that the New York Yankees have found a replacement for Adam Ottavino. The Yankees and Darren O'Day have agreed to a one year, $2.5 million contract, according to The Athletic's Lindsey Adler. The deal also contains a mutual option for the 2022 season. The contract has been confirmed by the Yankees.

O'Day had a solid season out of the Atlanta Braves bullpen in 2020, pitching to a 4-0 record with a sharp 1.10 ERA, striking out 22 hitters in 16 1/3 innings pitched across 19 relief appearances for Atlanta. In O'Day's 13 major league seasons, he has a 40-19 record with a 2.51 ERA, throwing 576 2/3 innings in 604 appearances, all of them coming in relief.

O'Day is very familiar with the AL East, as he had previously spent 7 years with the Baltimore Orioles, making the 2015 All Star Game. In that tenure, O'Day had a 28-14 record with a 2.40 ERA in 391 relief appearances. O'Day has spent time with the Orioles, Los Angeles Angels, New York Mets, Texas Rangers, and the Braves.

O'Day's signing comes days after the Yankees shipped Adam Ottavino and prospect Frank German to the Red Sox for cash considerations or a player to be named later. The Yankees have also made official the signings of Corey Kluber and DJ Lemahieu, but will have to clear some roster spots to make room for O'Day on the 40 man roster.
