A familiar face is back in Tampa Bay. The Rays and RHP Chaz Roe have agreed to a one year, $1.15 million deal, according to Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times. Roe has been a mainstay in the Rays bullpen in recent years, and he's back in the fold one more time. The Rays have confirmed the deal.

Roe had an effective year in the Rays bullpen, posting a 2-0 record with a 2.89 ERA, striking out 9 hitters in 9 1/3 innings, picking up one save in 10 relief appearances in the short season. In his 8 seasons, Roe has a career 11-8 record with a 3.82 ERA, throwing 216 2/3 innings, with 3 career saves in 244 relief appearances.

In his introductory press conference, Roe expressed his happiness to be back, saying that "I’m just happy to be back here. I'm happy to be back, and hopefully we can run it back. I love it here, love the group of guys, so it was a very easy decision on my part."

Roe was acquired by the Rays in a trade with the Atlanta Braves in 2017. Since arriving in Tampa Bay, Roe has been a reliable piece for manager Kevin Cash in the bullpen, posting a 3.54 ERA and a WHIP of 1.27 in 119 2/3 innings, recording 139 strikeouts in 151 appearances.

Roe's re-signing comes in a flurry of pitching moves by the Rays, signing Rich Hill, Collin McHugh, Oliver Drake, Chris Archer, Jeffrey Springs, and Chris Mazza.
