In a big spot late in the game, Starling Marte delivered. Marte hit the game winning homer, Jazz Chisholm homered, and the Miami Marlins rallied past the San Francisco Giants with a 4-1 victory on Friday night.

Evan Longoria got the Giants on the board in the 4th inning, when he hit an RBI single to left field, scoring Mike Yastrzemski to make it 1-0 Giants. In the 5th, Chisholm hit a solo homer to tie things up at one. In the 8th, with the game tied, Marte hit a 3 run homer to center field to give the Marlins a 4-1 lead late, which they held on to.

Marte said of his game winning homer that "I like it. I don't look for those moments. I think I can do the job for those moments, but I don't look to be that superhero-type of guy. As long as we win the game, that's the most important part."

Anthony Bass got the win for the Marlins, pitching a scoreless 8th inning of relief work, striking out one hitter. Dan Castano got the start for the Marlins, allowing one run on 3 hits and two walks, striking out no one. Yimi Garcia worked a scoreless 9th for his second save of the season. Adam Cimber and John Curtiss threw scoreless innings of relief.

Marlins manager Don Mattingly said of the strong bullpen work that "All the guys that came in basically were getting the outs they needed, not giving up the big home run, so it's a pretty simple game. Some big outs in the middle there from Cimber and Curtiss, especially when we only had one lefty today available."

Matt Wisler got the loss for the Giants, throwing 1 1/3 innings of relief work, allowing one of the runs that scored on Marte's homer. Anthony Desclafani got the start for the Giants, allowing one run on 4 hits and no walks through 6 innings. Wandy Peralta also pitched for the Giants, being responsible for the other runs scored on Marte's homer.

Giants manager Gabe Kapler said of Desclafani's start that he "Thought Anthony pitched a really good game. I thought his fastball command was there and the life on the fastball. Executed at the bottom of the zone. He and Buster worked very well together."

The Giants and Marlins face off again this evening, with Aaron Sanchez starting for the Giants, and Sandy Alcantara going for Miami.
