Milwaukee Brewers catcher Omar Narvaez has been hitting his stride lately. His recent success continued against the San Diego Padres. Narvaez homered, Jace Peterson drove in two runs, and the Brewers defeated the Padres with a 4-2 win Wednesday afternoon, sweeping the Padres in San Diego.

Trent Grisham got the Padres on the board in the 3rd inning with an RBI single to left field, making it 1-0 Padres to start. In the 4th inning, Peterson hit an RBI single into left field as well to tie the game at one apiece. In the bottom of the 4th, Jurickson Profar scored on a ground out to give the Padres a 2-1 lead. In the 6th, Narvaez hit a two run homer, and Peterson hit a solo homer to give the Brewers a 4-2 lead, which they didn't give up.

Brewers manager Craig Counsell said of sweeping the Padres that "We played a good series. You have to play good to beat teams like this. We pitched exceptionally and we got some home runs. That was the story of the series. We played really well."

Brent Suter got the win for the Brewers, pitching 1 1/3 scoreless innings in relief of starter Adrian Houser, who allowed two runs on 5 hits and two walks in 4 2/3 innings pitched. Josh Hader struck out two hitters in the 9th to earn the save for the Brewers. Devin Williams, JP Feyereisen, and Brad Boxberger also got in the game for the Brewers.

Narvaez said of his recent success that "I think the biggest thing for me is just enjoying every day in the field. Just enjoy being with the guys and have fun. Don't let whatever happened the last AB take my game down. Just create a new plan and go up to home plate with the plan and start executing."

Keone Kela took the loss for the Padres, allowing 3 runs on two hits and a walk over one inning of work, allowing the homers to Narvaez and Peterson. Dinelson Lamet got the start for the Padres, and looked sharp with 4 strikeouts and just two baserunners, but left the game after two innings due to forearm tightness.

Padres manager Jayce Tingler said of Lamet's latest setback that "We’ve gone step by step, a slow process, and we’ve had build-up, from bullpen, to live BP, to simulated games, into game action. The only thing I could think of is: Just a little more adrenaline today that maybe fired something up, because we just haven’t seen any issues over the last two months."

The Padres head to Los Angeles to face the Dodgers tonight, with rookie Ryan Weathers getting the start for the Padres. The Brewers resume play on Friday afternoon against the Cubs, with Brett Anderson starting for Milwaukee.
