Zach Plesac did not have a good start the last time he faced the Chicago White Sox. So, he decided to fix that. Plesac allowed just 3 hits, Cesar Hernandez homered, and the Cleveland Indians defeated the Chicago White Sox with a 5-0 win on Sunday afternoon.

Hernandez started the scoring with a solo homer in the 3rd to make it 1-0 Indians. In the 4th, Amed Rosario scored on an error to make it 2-0. In the 7th, Jose Ramirez hit a two run homer, and Rosario tallied an RBI single to extend the lead to 5-0, which held up.

Indians manager Terry Francona said of Ramirez's homer that "He’s one of the best players in the game. He's smart, he’s got the talent. He’s just a great player. I’m glad people are finally coming to realize that outside of Cleveland."

Plesac domianated the Indians, allowing no runs on 3 hits and 4 walks, striking out 6 hitters in 5 2/3 innings pitched. Bryan Shaw worked 1 1/3 scoreless innings after Plesac departed, striking out one hitter. James Karinchak and Emmanuel Clase also added scoreless innings, combining for 4 strikeouts to seal the win.

Plesac said of his start that "I had to win today. I wasn’t thinking about the last two starts. I was thinking about getting this team, putting them in a position to win this series. So, I mean it was big for me, big game for us altogether. I think it was a big win."

The White Sox lost star outfielder Luis Robert in the middle of the game, when he had to be helped off the field, not being able to put any weight on his right leg after legging out an infield single. He was initially diagnosed with a right hip flexor strain and will be re-evaluated. The White Sox are also missing star outfielder Eloy Jimenez due to a torn pec.

Lucas Giolito said of losing Robert that "That sucks. That's a guy we need. I'm just hoping that he can bounce back pretty quick. I don't know much about hip flexors. We're kind of plagued by injury this year. That's one of our key guys. Hopefully, he can get it right quick and be back helping us out."

The Indians face the Kansas City Royals tonight, with Aaron Civale getting the start for Cleveland. The White Sox face the Cincinnati Reds on Tuesday, with Dylan Cease starting for Chicago.
