The Seattle Mariners have some sneaky good bats in their lineup, particularly 2020 AL Rookie of the Year Kyle Lewis, and infielder Kyle Seager. That's what gave them the win Tuesday night. Seager homered and drove in two runs, Lewis homered, and the Mariners defeated the Baltimore Orioles with a 5-2 win Tuesday night.

Seager got the Mariners on the board in the 4th inning with a solo homer to right field. In the 5th, Rio Ruiz got the Orioles on the board with a a game tying solo homer, this one to right field as well. In the 8th, Sam Haggerty scored on a Seager sac fly, and Lewis hit a 3 run homer to make it 5-1 Mariners. A Trey Mancini RBI single in the 9th made it 5-2, but that was all the Orioles could manage.

Lewis said of his 3 run homer that "I was hyped, man. We've been playing hard. The team has been playing hard and trying to get big hits and the offense, we've been trying to get going. So it was cool to just provide some energy and I definitely wanted to enjoy that one, being able to put some runs on the board late in the game."

Rafael Montero got the victory for the Mariners, throwing a scoreless inning of relief in the 8th, allowing two baserunners. Justin Dunn received the start for the Mariners, allowing one run on 3 hits and 4 walks, adding 6 strikeouts in 5 1/3 innings pitched. Kendall Graveman, Keynan Middleton, and Robert Dugger also pitched for the Mariners.

Dunn said of his performance that "A hundred percent a lot of positives to take away. Even to be able to get through that without my best stuff is very encouraging. But the competitor in me wishes I got a little deeper and was able to save some guys in the ’pen for tomorrow. So with that, I'm glad we got a win."

Travis Lakins got the loss for the Orioles, allowing 3 runs on one hit and two walks, failing to record an out in his relief appearance. Jorge Lopez went 4 2/3 innings, allowing one run on 3 hits and two walks in the start, getting a no decision. Adam Plutko, Paul Fry, and Tanner Scott also pitched for Baltimore.

Orioles manager Brandon Hyde said of the slow offensive performance that "For me, the best teams that hit with runners in scoring positions are the teams that commit to going to the middle of the field and the other way. We just have a lot of big swings. Some nights it looks really good. Other nights, against guys with good stuff, it’s tough to drive in runs."

The Orioles and Mariners face off this afternoon, with John Means starting for the Orioles, and Yusei Kikuchi going for Seattle.
