The San Francisco Giants have been on quite a roll lately. Not just the pitching, but the offense has been stepping it up too. It showed once again on Sunday afternoon. Mike Yastrzemski homered, Wilmer Flores homered twice, and the Giants defeated the Philadelphia Phillies 11-2 on Sunday afternoon.

The Giants first scored 3 quick runs in the first inning, with Yastrzemski hitting a two run homer to right field, and Flores hitting a solo homer to center field. In the 3rd, Brandon Crawford hit a two run homer, and it was 5-2 Giants. In the 5th, Flores hit a solo homer to left field, making it 6-2. Steven Duggar hit an RBI double in the 6th inning to make it 7-2. In the 7th, Yastrzemski scored on a wild pitch, and Mauricio Dubon scored on a bases loaded walk, making it a 9-2 lead for the Giants. Crawford made it 11-2 with a two run double in the 8th inning.

Flores said of his two homer game that "Today I think I got a little help from the wind. Honestly, our team is not looking to hit homers all the time, but that comes with good swings and good pitches that we’re swinging at."

Sammy Long got his first major league win in his first major league start for the Giants, with his dad in the stands on fathers day. Long dazzled, allowing two runs on 4 hits and one walk, racking up 6 strikeouts in 6 innings pitched. After that, Zack Littell, Jimmie Sherfy, and John Brebbia finished off the Phillies.

Giants manager Gabe Kapler said of Long that "I think my favorite thing about him is how aggressive and competitive he is on the mound. He’s really confident, really trusting his stuff and his weapons. He believes in himself out on the mound, a little bit unusual for a pitcher of his experience level."

The Phillies got their only two runs of the game in the 3rd inning, when JT Realmuto cranked a two run homer to center field, which made it a 3-2 Giants lead at the time. The Phillies leave San Francisco with troubles abound after losing two out of 3 games in the series.

Zach Eflin got hit hard for the Phillies, allowing 7 runs on 9 hits, striking out 6 hitters in 5 innings pitched. Spencer Howard, who pitched 1 2/3 innings, and David Hale, who threw one inning, were credited with two earned runs each. Hector Neris got one out in his relief appearance, and was the only Phillies pitcher to not give up a run.

Phillies manager Joe Girardi said of Eflin's start that "His last start was pretty good. Today he was in the middle of the plate. Too many mistakes in the middle of the plate. We’ve given up too many two-strike hits overall with just mistakes. If we’re going to get to the next level we have to be better at that."

After a day off on Monday, the Giants start a series with the Los Angeles Angels on Tuesday, with Anthony DeSclafani getting the start. The Phillies begin a series with the Washington Nationals on Tuesday, where Zack Wheeler will get the start.
